Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

Welcome back to school Year 1. We hope you had a fantastic summer and are ready for an exciting year of learning ahead. We have lots of fun learning opportunities planned for you throughout the year and we are looking forward to getting to know you all.

Please remember to bring your book bag each day, with your reading books inside. You will take home two reading books each week and these will usually be swapped on Thursday. It’s really important that you practice reading your book every day at home and logging it on Boom reader.

Please also remember to bring a named water bottle with you.

PE days for both classes are Mondays (indoor 1SS, outdoor 1LS) and Thursday  (outdoor- 1SS , indoor 1LS).

On these days, you should come to school dressed in your PE kit which you will stay in all day.

If you have any questions, then please ask one of us.

Our young artists have been busy creating their very own self-portraits!

Using mirrors, the children carefully looked at their faces and explored their different features — eyes, nose, mouth, ears and hair. They took their time to notice the unique details that make each of us special before bringing their observations to life through drawing.

To celebrate National Fitness Day, we were thrilled to welcome Sam Khogali, Team GB long jumper and 2022 British Indoor Champion, to school! 🇬🇧

The children had the fantastic opportunity to meet an inspirational athlete, learn more about health and fitness, and get active with a fun fitness challenge. 💪⭐

From star jumps and press-ups to leg drives and spotty dogs, our children gave every activity their all! They showed fantastic energy, enthusiasm and determination throughout the day.

This week in Computing, our Year 1 children have been learning all about what a computer is and the different types of computers we use in our everyday lives.

The children learnt to recognise devices such as tablets and laptops and then put their knowledge to the test by matching the correct words to the pictures. 🖥️📱
