Rendell Primary School & Fearon Pre-School

School closed for the summer holidays and re-opens on Tuesday 1st September

New chapters!

I’m sure Rendell families will agree that it is with a very heavy heart that we wish Mrs Shiels every happiness as she leaves us to begin her retirement, which, from what we’ve heard so far, sounds like it may be even busier than being at school!

For over 24 years Mrs Shiels has worked to provide an outstanding start to education for the youngest of our children and she will be sorely missed by staff and children alike.

We would like to say a huge thank you from staff, Governors, parents and children, past and present, for all of the hard work and true dedication that Mrs Shiels has given to Rendell and hope that she’ll find a little time to pop back and see us.

Also leaving us this week to join a new school in September is Mr Brothwell (Y5) – we’d like to thank him for his hard work and wish him every success in his new post.

Mrs Reading (Y1) and Mrs Partner (Y3) will be beginning their maternity leave and hopefully be getting in lots of rest before the babies arrive!  We wish them a peaceful few weeks and look forward to welcoming the new arrivals later in the year.

Mrs Nain, who has worked at Fearon Pre-School for many years, will also be retiring and we wish her every happiness for the future.

Children too!  Another group of Year 6 children will also be saying farewell.  They gave us an amazing end of year production this week and should be extremely proud of all their achievements this year.  I’m sure that parents will agree when I say that their time at primary school seems to have flown by and that suddenly they’re growing up and becoming very sensible young men and ladies, a credit to the school and their parents.  Our best wishes go with them as they move on – work hard and anything is possible!

New beginnings

A very warm welcome goes out to our new staff joining us in September:

Teaching staff:  Y5 – Mr J Wicks; Y4 – Mrs S Rixon-Fox; Y3 – Miss E Davies; Y1 – Miss K Russell

Support staff:  Mrs C Poxon; Ms P Sandell; Miss R Waldron; Miss J Corpe

A great start to the new school year

Uniform:  As we begin a new school year I’d like to ask parents to check that all children have the correct school uniform, especially footwear.  Over the last few weeks quite a few children have had to be reminded that black footwear is school policy and shoes or trainers with coloured markings are not.  If you are unsure please ask a member of staff or check the uniform policy on the school website.

School dinners:  From September 1st the cost of a school dinner will be £2.15.  Children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 will continue to receive free school meals.

A menu and order form will be sent home on the first day of term so for the first week Key Stage 2 children will be able to order a dinner on a daily basis.

Please ask at the office if you think your child/ren should be entitled to a free school meal.
