Rendell Primary School & Fearon Pre-School

We hope you all had a restful Easter break and have now settled back in to the school routine. There’s an exciting summer term ahead of us – keep a check on our website for the latest information.

School will be closed on Monday 4th May (Bank Holiday), Thursday 7th May due to the General Election and on Friday 8th May for Staff Training, school reopens on Monday 11th May.

Visitors at Rendell

Head teachers from our partner schools in China visited Loughborough last week. Rendell children put on a super welcoming assembly with our Year 1 and Year 2 children singing and performing followed by an exchanging of gifts for the schools. Our visitors were very impressed with our school and came for a second look around later in the week!

Summer Term

Uniform: Thank you to everyone for supporting the school and your children by ensuring that the correct uniform and footwear are worn and that Rendell’s own PE kit is returned and ready to wear each week. The children look very smart and have a real sense of community. We have a very large pile of lost property so please come and have a look if your child has anything missing.

Snacks and packed lunches: The children are encouraged to eat a healthy diet as part of our curriculum and through our school meals. We would like to ask that you support this through providing your child with suitable snacks and packed lunches. If you would like any help or advice please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help.

Clubs: After-school clubs began this week with a wide variety of activities on offer. Please remember that due to school closure there won’t be any clubs running on Monday 4th May and Thursday 7th May. All clubs will finish the week before we close for the summer holidays with the last club being on Thursday 2nd July.

SATs: Our Year 6 children will be taking their SATs tests during the week beginning 11th May and Year 2 children will have their tests during the week beginning 1st June. Teachers will be sending some revision ‘top tips’ and advice on how to prepare for the tests home with the children soon.

RendellFest: Unfortunately a lack of volunteers to organise RendellFest for us this year means that it will not go ahead. National Smile Month: Gorse Covert Dental Practice are holding a FREE dental check-up for all children under the age of 18 on Thursday 28th May 2015 in support of National Smile Month. An appointment needs to be booked and all children will receive a FREE goody bag on their arrival for their dental check-up. Please call Gorse Covert Dental Practice to book your child/children in on 01509 844118.

Crash My Kitchen: Crash my Kitchen is a new and exciting online mini-series that will change the way families eat and give them the chance to taste and learn about food from across the world from the comfort of their own home. A mystery chef heads to their home to crash their kitchen for the day! Anyone who wants to apply should head to:
